Between Truth and Fiction, which Dialectic in Psychoanalysis?

By Mario De Vincenzo, Thomas Fraser
English

In this paper, the author attempts to explore the articulation between truth and fictions in the analytic work by taking into account the question of the Freudian discovery of psychic truth as the true object of the psychoanalyst. By studying certain passages of Construction in analysis and the contributions of some contemporary psychoanalysts, it will be illustrated how the work of historicisation in action in the treatment elaborates and signifies the remains of the past through the filters of reality of the fantasy and of unconscious desire. It will then be in this work of transformation and giving form that constantly creates fictional constructions revealing a core of psychic truth that cannot be known at first sight. It is only thanks to this process of figuration that the action of the form exercised by the analytical fictions can hope to make representable a part of subjective truth that was expressed as a symptom, an act or a repetition.
