Fazer o luto da idealização e reparar os ideais no clima humano

Mourning Idealization and Repairing Ideals in the Human Climate

Weintrobe argues that most people are in a collective psychic state of withdrawal when faced with the seriousness of the climate crisis. This is the climate bubble. The climate crisis refers to the crisis in the human climate, which determines the state of social and physical climates. Recognizing and owning one’s “inner exception”, an ordinary but stubborn corner of narcissism, is one of the keys to breaking out of the climate bubble. Whether it concerns the self or groups, exception idealizes the sense of entitlement to ignore limits and boundaries, and undermines the ideals of care. It hinders the guilt elaboration. Weintrobe explores different types of guilt, linking them to different ways of feeling “entitled to” and of greed, illustrating them with scenes from Dante’s Inferno.
