Between the Utterable and Visible

The world today appears on the plane of its communication minus the “real”, especially in the field known as mental health (Lacan). The discourse employed to speak about the clinic is not enough to account for what is at stake in what the psychoanalyst meets in his practice. This article examines the promotion of the concept of mental health, which stands in fundamental contrast to the concept of the clinic. Thus, the political promotion of health is bringing about the disappearance of the psychoanalytic clinic. To choose the psychoanalytic clinic is not to oppose health, but rather to deconstruct the ideological artifice that marks this reference to health.
