Act and Anankè

This brief study poses the question of how the Greek tragedy and psychoanalysis answer to one and the same necessity. The tragic hero, faced with an absolute choice is obliged to act out, but remains free to choose a path to follow. This is the reason the tragedy, far from being a Greek specificity, is profoundly contemporary. Freudien psychoanalysis is in line with the same logic with the Greek tragedy: that is to understand what is at steak between the Act and the Necessity-Ananke.
