Psychoanalysis and Scientific Control of Reproduction

Subject, Subjectivities, and Practices of the Body in the Contemporary World
Some Possible Approaches
By Simone Perelson
English

Based on a comment by Freud about the drastic changes that the scientific control of reproduction could bring to society, and on the reference that Lacan makes to a case of post mortem insemination in order to illustrate the paternal role, and also on Monette Vacquin’s revelation of the presence, within the new reproductive technologies, of a terrifying bond of the unconscious, the science and the market, this article aims to reflect on some possible consequences of the techno-science reproduction, on current and future organizations of affiliation, and more particularly on the place that the anonymous sperm donor may occupy in this organization.
