Labiaplasty is an aesthetic surgery that reduces the size of the labia minora. This surgery is part of the new and growing trend of “intimate surgery”. We intend to identify the representations of feminine genitalia at play in the clinical field of labiaplasty, based on the different discourses on this surgery. We will see that it is possible to understand these representations as displaying the unbearable aspect of the feminine sex, stemming from images presenting it as something abnormal, drive related and masculinized.
